Stages power meter has been one of my essential tools for cycling over the last eight years. As I have been able to experience Gen 1, Gen 2 (Energy) and now generation 3. Stages developed the technology for left claim crank power meters and has thus changed the Power meters. From my previous experience of Generation 1 to Gen 3, the impressive features and upgrades that make this power meter one of my best for 2018. So, what’s the difference between Generation 2 and 3? The most impressive feature I would say with the Generation 3 is the upgraded Bluetooth and Ant+ radio frequency transmission.  The newest addition gives you six times improvement in the stability, accuracy and consistency of the signal. The left crank is feather weight and only adds about 15 grams to the base crank arm. Gen 3 has a 28% lower profile as compared to the Generation 2. The power meter cost approximately $629 and is reasonable priced based upon the additional features and upgrade improvements of the meter. This Gen 3 has been proven with multiple stage Tour winners over the years and continues to prove itself over and over again no matter what race, condition or surface. The Gen 3 is wirelessly upgraded for continuous firmware updates and improvements as they may come out.
